New £150 disability cost of living payment update for thousands of people still waiting on money

Thousands of people expecting the £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment to land automatically in their bank, building society or credit union account by July 4 can now report it missing online through the dedicated microsite on GOV.UK.

The DWP recently announced that over 99 per cent of people eligible for the £150 lump sum had received the money by June 26, 2023.

This means that 6.4 million people received the money within five working days of the payment window opening on June 20. However, while the vast majority of the 6.7 million eligible claimants in receipt of a qualifying disability benefit such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment or Attendance Allowance, have received the extra financial support, an estimated 300,000 people could still be waiting.

DWP has previously said that a “smaller number of payments will be made after 4 July, where claimants were still awaiting confirmation of their eligibility or entitlement to qualifying disability benefits on 1 April”.In the latest edition of the Touchbase newsletter, DWP said: “Most people entitled to the £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment will have been paid automatically between 20 June and 4 July.“Customers can now report a missing payment if they think they should have had one of the following payments but cannot see it in their bank, building society or credit union account.”DWP added: “We ask that customers do not report the same missing payment more than once.
