Celtic have blasted the claims of Israel boss Alon Hazan that some of the club's supporters are 'anti-Semitic'. The international manager made a barbed claim against sections of fans at the Premiership champions as he offered support to countryman Liel Abada amid ongoing conflict with Hamas in that region.

Currently out injured, the 22-year-old reportedly held chats with the Hoops board over the since-banned Green Brigade 's banners and chants over the Middle East situation.

Hazan's claims sparked outrage amongst the fanbase but now speaking to fan media, a club spokesperson has said that it rejects the claims of the Israel boss while also offering their full support to Abada.

It reads: “Any suggestion that the Celtic support is anti-Semitic is totally inaccurate. Celtic is a diverse club, proud to be open to all, ever since its formation in 1888.
