Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl says it’s good news that they’re bringing in a new squad at Somervell Park – because he reckons they were too soft on the previous lot.McColl has snapped up defenders Terry Hewitt and Anthony Dempsey, midfielders Ryan Bennett, Connor Smith, Lee Hadden, Josh Moore, midfielder/striker Gary Fleming, winger Liam Coogans, striker Jordan Shelvey, plus Nathan McConnell, who were previously with St Roch’s and Wishaw FPs, respectively.And that will be overseen by a new management team in himself, assistant John Petrie and coach James McKnight, following Billy Campbell’s decision to resign as co-boss due to work commitments.McColl is delighted with his new backroom team and said: “I’ve known John for a while, he was in with us for a brief spell last season and I’m delighted to get him in.“He will be a good help, as will James.”On his new players, McColl said: “They’ve all signed just now and we’ve got boys in that we’re hoping to sign.“They’re good signings, we’ve got experienced players there, some young boys, a couple who were amateur and a lot of junior teams were chasing them.“It’s a good mixture, and then we’ll get another couple in and we should be fine.”McColl feels that over-familiarity with certain players last season meant a few got away with too much.The latest to move on last week was defender Alan Reid, and while McColl doesn’t have a problem with the 34-year-old, he says others have let him down.“Alan did well for us for a few years and we wish him well,” said McColl. “There’s no fall-out, he’s a good guy who did well for us.“I’m just a wee bit disappointed with players and money – you get relegated and they think they should get the same money, but you’re down a league and they’re
