Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic fans he wants to make them "dream again" after returning as manager. The Irishman is back on a three-year deal as the highest paid manager in the club's history after majority shareholder Dermot Desmond dug deep to replace Ange Postecoglou.

A section of fans – the Green Brigade – are still unhappy at the way Rodgers left for Leicester City back in 2019, but the majority are delighted one of the most successful bosses of the modern era is back in the Parkhead hotseat. In a message to the green and white masses, Rodgers stresses the importance of "togetherness," a knowing nod that his second coming wasn't a universally popular call.

He also thanks Desmond and the club board for bringing him back to his boyhood club before praising the fans and sharing his desire to make them proud as he prepares to face the media for the first time on Friday afternoon.Rodgers told Celtic TV: "I just wanted to take this opportunity for the support that I've had since I've been named the manager here again at Celtic."I'm very proud and very honoured to be given the opportunity and hopefully I can repay the faith of Dermot and the board for accepting me back to the club.

But also, very, very importantly, to you, the supporters."Celtic Football Club is about the supporters. I hope that I can come back and make you proud.
