BBC bosses were left red-faced ahead of Keely Hodgkinson's stunning 800m victory on the tenth day of the Olympic Games. The 22-year-old Atherton athlete delivered a flawless performance to secure gold, beating Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma and Kenya's Mary Moraa.
However, the BBC's coverage was less than perfect. As they built up to the evening's main event on the track in Paris, they switched to footage of Hodgkinson's family and friends at Leigh Athletics Club.
Normally, such footage is met with enthusiastic waves and cheers as loved ones spot themselves on TV, but this time it was different.
