BBC Strictly Come Dancing confirms big change for new series and fans say it's 'long overdue'

This year's series, which is set to start start next month, will feature live signing for the first time. The new feature will ensure that more deaf viewers are able to watch the show.
Live signing will be an option on the red button and on iPlayer, alongside audio description and subtitling, the BBC confirmed. Posting the news on Instagram the BBC's press office wrote: "This autumn’s 20th anniversary series of Strictly Come Dancing will be the most accessible yet for our audience with live signing for the first time available on iPlayer and red button. "Alongside audio description and subtitling, it means more of our audience will be able to get involved, vote and enjoy the action during the live Saturday night shows, the Sunday results shows, the launch episode, the Christmas special and the upcoming 20th anniversary programme!"
