BBC Homes Under the Hammer has reportedly ditched its presenter in favour of a famous face and voice that we may already recognise.Celebrity builder Tommy Walsh will reportedly be replaced by radio star and weatherman Owain Wyn Owens, 39, as he is expected to make his debut on the show when the new series returns. It's said that he has already begun filming scenes for the popular daytime TV show, with BBC bosses hoping Owain will appeal to a new generation of viewers.
The Mirror reports that celebrity builder Tommy, who shared his throat cancer diagnosis in 2022, reportedly filmed his final Homes Under The Hammer scenes last year and will not be returning to shoot more. "Bosses wanted a makeover to keep younger viewers interested," a TV source has claimed.
Speaking to The Sun, the insider added: "They have been keen to get Owain onto one of their popular shows for a while - he will add a new dynamic.
The upcoming series will feature both Tommy and Owain as there is a three-month lag with the house makeovers, so there is some crossover." Tommy joined the Homes Under the Hammer team back in 2021 alongside original presenters Martin Roberts, Martel Maxwell and Dion Dublin.
