BBC Breakfast fans have slammed the extensive coverage of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis on the show after the Princess of Wales asked for privacy following her shock announcement.

The 42-year-old royal said she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy and asked for "space and privacy" during this difficult time.

Kate revealed her cancer was discovered after her major abdominal surgery in January which came as a huge shock to the family.On Saturday morning, BBC Breakfast had people reporting from outside Windsor Castle with viewers slamming the show online for going against the princess' privacy wishes, the Mirror reports.

One person wrote: "Why have the BBC got reporter outside Windsor castle the princess of wales made a statement nobody is going to come out to speak to the reporter leave the woman alone to get on with her treatment." Another angry user fumed: "The BBC is giving this wall to wall coverage.
