A man photographing a herd of elk at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado got more than he bargained for last month when one of the elk charged straight at him. "We were trying to get away from him, because we knew he was going to make one of them mad enough to hurt someone," Megan Foster, a tourist who shot video of the incident, said of another tourist that was seen agitating the herd of elk, according to Fox 7. "What you don’t see in the video is six other bulls that (the bull elk) was also trying to keep away from his herd.

A controversial, anti-violence activist priest in Chicago who once caught attention for his relationship with former President Barack Obama is under investigation for another sexual abuse of a minor case.  The Archdiocese of Chicago announced Saturday that Father Michael Pfleger will be under investigation for a new allegation of sexual abuse of a minor said to have taken place more than 30 years ago, according to a statement.  "Father Pfleger has been asked to step aside from ministry and live away from the parish while the allegation is investigated. He has agreed to cooperate fully with this request," Archbishop of Chicago Cardinal Blase J. Cupich said Saturday.  The allegation was reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and law enforcement officials.

A judge dismissed a female juror accused of flirting with one of the defendants charged in an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer over COVID-19-era lockdown measures.  Jackson County Judge Thomas Wilson announced Friday that the woman has been removed from the jury, two days after attorneys raised concerns the juror was having too much non-verbal communication with defendant Paul Bellar, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reported.

Two fathers have been accused of shooting each other's daughters during the course of a road rage altercation in Florida this week.  William Hale, 36, and Frank Allison, 43, have both been charged with attempted murder following a driving dispute that resulted in the two drivers allegedly firing shots at each other that struck the other person's daughter, WOFL-TV reported. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office says both parties were speeding and "brake checking each other" and seemingly were playing a "cat and mouse game" while driving erratically along US Highway 1 in Nassau County, Florida.

The two New York ex-cons accused in connection with the shooting death of the father of a local Marist College student at a Poughkeepsie hotel were ordered held without bail on Friday after they pleaded not guilty.  Roy Johnson and Devin Taylor are charged separately for their involvement in the October 2 shooting that led to the death of 53-year-old Paul Kutz and the discovery of an alleged bomb-making "manual."  Wearing a white t-shirt and an orange jail-issued jumpsuit with his hair up, Johnson – the man accused of opening fire and killing Kutz – appeared in New York's Dutchess County Court early Friday. Democratic representatives seeking re-election this fall in Virginia remain silent after cozying up with a delegate in the state legislature whose new bill would make it a punishable crime for parents not to affirm their LGBT children. On Thursday, Delegate Elizabeth Guzman told WJLA that at the start of the new legislative session, she will introduce a bill that would penalize, with a misdemeanor or felony charge, parents who do not affirm their LGBT children.The bill would expand the state's definition of child abuse and neglect to include parents who do not affirm their LGBT children's gender identity or sexual orientation. "Well, we first have to complete an investigation," Guzman told WJLA about the new bill.

An Indiana mother was reportedly sentenced to 115 years in prison earlier this month for poisoning her ex-boyfriend's oatmeal and strangling him during a custody battle.  Following a seven-day trial, Heidi Marie Littlefield was found guilty of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in August by a jury in Hamilton County. Texas authorities nabbed 15 illegal immigrants during a recent attempt to smuggle them into the United States as they bailed out of the vehicle and tried to flee.
