AYR bounced back to keep their 100 per cent start alive as Scott Brown's side edged a five goal thriller at Somerset this afternoon. The Honest Men sit top of the Championship by three points following their electric opening to the campaign.
Second half goals from Marco Rus and George Oakley turned the tide after Ayr had fallen behind at the break.Boss Brown had stuck with the side which thumped Airdrie last week while Hamilton made two changes with Scott Martin and Euan Henderson coming in.Ayr enjoyed a bright start and hit the front after a flowing move which saw Ben Dempsey release Jay Henderson, whose cross was touched home by opposite winger Jamie Murphy from close range.Accies tried to respond and Kevin O'Hara drew Harry Stone into a fine save at the other end.
Ayr should have doubled their lead when Oakley teed up Henderson but he fired wide from 12 yards. But Accies always looked a danger and they pulled level when Oli Shaw fired into the top corner after Ayr had failed to clear their lines.
Stone then denied Henderson as the visitors pushed for a second goal. However, the it was delayed a matter of minutes as Accies hit the front when Jamie Barjonas fired home.
