Armie Hammer Sets Acting Return With Western ‘Frontier Crucible,’ First Film Since Sexual Assault Allegations

Alex Ritman Armie Hammer‘s exile from the film industry appears to be over. The actor — who hasn’t acted in more than three years following sexual assault allegations that arose in 2021 — has landed a key role in upcoming Western “Frontier Crucible.” From “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, the film comes from Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend banner and will be directed by Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”).

Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) also stars, alongside Myles Clohessy (“The Pendragon Cycle”), Eli Brown (“Run Hide Fight”), Eddie Spears (“Yellowstone”) and Zane Holtz (“Hunter Killer”), singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen and newcomer Mary Stickley. “I’ve made a career out of smashing taboos, while always striving for great cinema,” Sonnier said in a statement. “This moment is the perfect mix of my two dedications.

I cannot wait to work with Armie Hammer on this incredible western, a genre I adore.” Hammer shared photos from what appears to be the set of the film on his Instagram, with the caption: “Back in the saddle.”A post shared by @armiehammer Hammer, whose credits include “The Social Network” and “Call Me by Your Name,” saw his career derailed in early 2021 after allegations against him emerged included rape, engaging in cannibalism fantasies and coercing partners into BDSM scenarios.

He exited several high-profile projects, was dropped by his publicist and agent and became the subject of an LAPD investigation.
