Former England star Alan Shearer said he initially 'felt sorry' for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund because of his eye-watering transfer fee.

Shearer made the admission after the Denmark international, signed from Atalanta in August for an initial fee of £64million, plundered his 12th and 13th goals of the season in Sunday's 2-1 win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Hojlund struck twice inside the opening seven minutes to score for the sixth Premier League game running. As a result of scoring his first Premier League brace, he has now scored eight goals in his last eight matches in all competitions.

Only against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round has he failed to score in a game this calendar year.
