Airdrie have swooped to land their seventh summer signing with the capture of Queen's Park defender Cammy Bruce - after fighting off interest from top sides north and south of the border. The 18-year-old wing-back came through the Spiders academy, spending a decade at Hampden after being spotted at local side Bargeddie Colts.Ironically, he made his league debut against the Diamonds in March 2022 and has now made the switch from Glasgow to North Lanarkshire to bolster Rhys McCabe's squad for the forthcoming season's Championship promotion push. After completing his move, Bruce told the club website: “When I heard that Airdrie was an option, it was something I wanted to jump at.

I know the way they played football last season and the way Rhys wants his players to play - it was something I didn’t want to pass up on.“We’ll just try to get as high up the table as possible, push for promotion or play-offs - try to win as many games and play good football again.

Hopefully I’ll chip in with some assists and maybe the odd goal or two!”Diamonds players/boss Rhys McCabe was pleased to capture Bruce’s signature in what the club stated was 'in the face of interest from top-level sides north and south of the border'.

McCabe said: “Cammy’s another good young player - I remember him making his debut against us at 16 years old, and I’ve had my eye on him from afar.“In terms of quality and the scope of where he can go, there’s no ceiling for him.
