Benefit claimants only have one more day left to have their say on potential reforms for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

The non-means tested benefit is targeted at helping those who need extra financial support due to a disability. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is setting out a number of potential reforms in England and Wales for the benefit through the Modernising Support for Independent Living green paper.

Some of the reforms the paper has set out includes changes to how assessments are carried out, creating assessments that are more tied into a person's own physical condition, and moving away from a cash-based system of rewards and replacing it with vouchers or payments based on submitted receipts.

When making a claim for the first time, an assessment will be carried out on how an individual's condition affects their daily life and what level of extra support they may need.
