Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

After Payne died at age 31 on Wednesday, Zayn shared on Instagram, “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the Stairway to the Sky Tour.” Zayn previously paid tribute to his former bandmate in a heartfelt statement after Payne fell from the third-floor balcony of his Buenos Aires, Argentina hotel room last Wednesday. “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives,” he started. “I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life.
