Wheels of Fleet's Gatehouse base named in memory of much-loved local resident

It was an emotional day at the second Wheels of Fleet Bike Fayre in Gatehouse on Saturday when its base was renamed in memory of a much- loved local resident.

From now on the project’s repair shop will be known as Leo’s Workshop as a tribute to Leo McClymont. The popular senior citizen passed away on St Andrew’s Day last year, 11 days before his 95th birthday.

Pedal power enthusiasts gathered around the community bicycle hub for an informal ceremony at 11am. The new sign and name for workshop was unveiled by Leo’s friend and neighbour Isabel McLeod.

Wheels of Fleet coordinator Danny Alderslowe told the News afterwards: “From now on the workshop will be called Leo’s Workshop.
