supplies run out due to people stockpiling and supermarkets limiting purchases.Six months on from the start of lockdown, demand at food banks is still higher than usual.Organisers at Manchester South Central Food bank, which supports people in Hulme, Whalley Range, Old Trafford and Moss Side, said they saw a 250pc increase in demand in August compared to last year.They had also seen a 400pc increase earlier in the year too.The food bank, which is run by the Bridging the Gap charity, is only expected to see more people use their services as the year carries on.The Trussell Trust, which supports the South Central food bank, expects there to be at least a 60 pc increase at all food banks across the country between October and December -.
