True crime fans are obsessed with BBC1's The Serpent. The drama series - first screened in 2021, but now available to view on Netflix - tells the incredible story of convicted killer Charles Sobhraj.
In the series, the charismatic French national was believed to have terrorised the hippy trail in the 1970s, drugging, robbing and attacking those who sought to 'turn on, tune in and drop out'.
Now, Channel 4 is back with a three-part documentary series that has access to the man himself. Now 79, he has spent almost half of his life in prison.
On December 23, 2022, Sobhraj, known as The Serpent because of his snake-like ability to seduce his victims and cheat justice, was released from prison in Nepal after nearly 20 years.
