Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has revealed that he will juggle European Championship commitments with new job as Plymouth Argyle manager.

The former United striker returned to management four months after being relieved of his duties as Birmingham City head coach.

Rooney was a surprise appointment at St Andrew's but was sacked after just 83 days in charge. Since dropping out of the dugout, he has been in the studio as a pundit for Sky Sports and most recently BBC, for United's FA Cup triumph over rivals Manchester City.

However, he will be tasked with maintaining Argyle's Championship status after Ian Foster was sacked amid their relegation battle, this season. "It's really busy, every day now is a working day if you like whether that's here or with the children and obviously, I've got some commitments with the European Championships," he told Argyle TV. "Ultimately, every day is geared up to bring players in, working with the coaches on how we want to play and getting ready for pre-season training. "It's a busy month, I'm excited about it but the exciting thing is pre-season and really getting to work with the players." Home Park will be the fourth home of Rooney's managerial career after spells with Derby County, DC United and the Midlands club.
