A former care assistant who joined a Stockport care home nine years ago has been named the UK's top Deputy Care Manager at a national awards ceremony.

Louise Kivel joined Olea Care Group in 2014 as the organisation opened its flagship service Fernlea. Within an impressive 12 months, she ascended from a care assistant to a Team Leader, then to Operational Lead, and finally achieved the title of Deputy Manager in 2019.

This year, her outstanding contributions were acknowledged with a nomination for Deputy Manager of the Year at the National Care Awards 2023, an accolade she graciously won.

Louise smiled: "To win Deputy Care Manager of the Year is amazing and to even be nominated is something I am grateful for. "This is something I do not believe I could have achieved without the support of my management team and I hope I can continue to be the best in my role." Laura Claffey, General Manager of Fernlea, added: "Louise is the most caring and supportive deputy manager that I've ever had the privilege to work alongside. "Every day she pushes herself and her team to provide the best care possible to our residents at Fernlea while making sure our residents have everything they require to be able to live comfortably and safely. "I am so incredibly proud of her achievement and I am glad that others can recognise her hard work and dedication." Louise's time at Fernlea has been marked by her unwavering dedication to enhancing services for residents.
