Leading figures from across the South Ayrshire political spectrum have put aside their differences today to pay tribute to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

News of the Monarch’s death sparked a wave of emotion and heartfelt tributes across the county.The new King, King Charles III, has now ascended the thrown.South Ayrshire Council's Chief Executive, Eileen Howat, will make a public proclamation around the Accession to the throne of Charles III on Sunday, September 11 at 1.30pm.This will take place at the shore door of County Buildings.Those who wish to attend are invited to gather in the St Germain-En-Laye Gardens located at the front of County Buildings in Ayr.South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell said: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

For 70 years, she has been the head of the British Royal Family and our longest serving monarch.“For seven decades she has been a steady presence and served the nation and the Commonwealth with unparalleled devotion.”He added: “Her Majesty touched the lives of so many.

We will never see her like again.”Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock SNP MP, Allan Dorans, said he would be remaining in London this weekend to pay his respects and take part in tributes to Her Majesty.
