Rosemary Burns, the widow of Celtic legend Tommy Burns, has tragically passed away on a flight from Tenerife to Glasgow. At 69 years old, Rosemary fell ill during her Jet2 flight on July 3, causing an emergency landing in Cork.
An on-board incident was declared early on Wednesday 3 July which caused this unexpected detour. A source close to the family shared with the Record that while holidaying in Canary Islands, Rosemary fell ill and as a result, decided to take an earlier flight back home.
Explaining the situation, they stated: "Rosemary became unwell while on holiday in Tenerife." Continuing the troubling story, they added: "She felt she had to get home." The urgency led her to cut her trip short and start her journey back to Scotland.
However, as the source described: "She got on the plane and became unwell. The flight was supposed to land in Glasgow but it ended up being diverted to Cork." Jet2 confirmed these events as they mentioned flight LS176 was redirected to Cork, Ireland, due to a passenger feeling unwell on board early Wednesday.
