Thousands of residents in Trafford without internet following damage to broadband cables

Thousands of properties in Trafford are without internet this evening after three underground cables providing broadband were damaged.

Residents in Partington and Carrington have reported no internet access throughout Tuesday (July 4) following the damage to cables on Manchester Road this afternoon.

The outage is affecting a number of broadband services in the area, including BT, Talk Talk, Vodafone and Sky. Openreach said its engineers are onsite and are expected to work throughout the night to fix the ‘complex and time-consuming’ issue.

A spokesperson for Openreach said: “We’re sorry for the disruption in Carrington, which is affecting broadband in the local area. “Earlier today, three of our underground cables were badly damaged.
