Wayne Couzens appears in court charged with kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard
Metropolitan Police officer made his first crown court appearance by video link from Belmarsh top security jail in south London, with members of Ms Everard’s family also joining the hearing by video link.Mr Couzens was wearing a red sweatshirt and grey jogging bottoms and spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.Prosecutor Tom Little QC said the circumstances of the case had led to a “very significant and wide-ranging investigation" and that the case had attracted an “almost unprecedented media and public attention”.Judge Mark Lucraft QC set a plea hearing for July 9 and a provisional Old Bailey trial date of October 25, after which Mr Couzens was remanded into custody.Ms Everard was reported missing by her boyfriend on March 4 and
