He played band frontman David St. Hubbins in the first film 40 years ago, Director Reiner, 77, who also portrayed interviewer Marty DiBergi in the original, was spotted visiting Paul Shaffer, 74 — aka promo-man Artie Fufkin — in his pre-reunion occupation as a second-hand car dealer.
Guest, 76, who played Nigel Tufnell, was photographed with long grey hair and dressed in a leather jacket, ready to join the band.Harry Sheerer, 80, was noticeably absent from the shoot, but was photographed on set reprising his role as Derek Smalls this week.McKean, Guest and Shearer all played real concerts as their characters in 2009.
The new film will mimic the style of Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz” and follow the fictional band’s quest to reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one last concert.
