Some of the regions most notorious criminals have to follow strict rules imposed by the authorities. Curtis Warren and Merseyside's Fitzgibbon brothers are among those who have to abide by guidelines imposed by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The law enforcement organisation, sometimes referred to as the UK's FBI, regularly publishes a list of ancillary orders used to support the lifetime management of serious criminals and prevent future offending.

The orders are made in a bid to frustrate criminality, by limiting opportunities for criminals to engage in illegal activity but to also make offenders less attractive to organised crime gangs looking to recruit or make new contacts, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The NCA said the level of scrutiny that the criminals are subject to makes it "toxic for other criminals to communicate and collaborate with them".
