Mike Skinner's music as The Streets has always had a certain narrative quality to it, whether it was his boozy tales of wild nights out on 2002's Original Pirate Material or the shaggy dog story of a lost £1000 on the follow-up, A Grand Don't Come For Free.
It makes sense, then, that Skinner would eventually branch out into movie-making one day. On Thursday the U.K. producer, vocalist, and DJ announced that his next album will accompany a feature film of the same name.
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light (the album) will be released on October 20. Album track "Troubled Waters" is streaming below.
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light (the album) is described as "a tripped-out noir murder-mystery based in London's clubland." Skinner has gone full auteur with his debut and has written, directed, shot, edited, scored, added special effects and even funded it himself.
