The experts have highlighted the importance of airing out your bed, leaving at least half an hour between getting out of bed and making it.
This is because dust mites thrive in warm and humid environments, meaning they can make themselves comfy in your bed if you make it as soon as you get up.
Dust mites are tiny insects that feed on dead skin cells. The bugs, close relatives of ticks and spiders, are too small to see without a microscope but can make themselves at home in your bed due to the often warm, moist environment created while you sleep, with the heat and moisture trapped if you make your bed straight away.
