Travel plans are being altered, ministerial meetings in Westminster are being cancelled, as Rishi Sunak has now finally called the much-anticipated General Election for July 4 - and with more than 100 MPs throwing in the towel at this election, including a former Prime Minister, the next parliament will look very different.
In an early sign that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was going to call the election today, one senior Conservative standing down at the next election was seen hugging colleagues and saying goodbye, according to BBC Political Editor Chris Mason.
Of the MPs not standing or re-election, the vast majority are from the Conservative Party, which is currently behind in the polls by double digits.
