BBC Radio 2 host Sara Cox promised to 'try and do Steve Wright proud' as she opened her show moments after his death was announced.
Steve, 69, had been a presenter on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 since the 1980s. His death was announced by his family at 5pm this evening (February 13).
Bolton-born presenter Sara was the first Radio 2 DJ on air following the news. In a heartfelt tribute, she described Steve as 'extraordinary', as she invited her listeners to share their memories of the much-loved presenter.
Sara then promised to play 'the music that he loved so much', as she began to play Glen Campbell's 1968 country recrod, Wichita Lineman. Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
