It may not be December just yet, but many people will already be thinking about putting their Christmas decorations up. Possibly the most important decoration of all is the tree - and it turns out there is a 'correct' day to set it up if you're opting for a real one this year.

Sunday, November 27 is just around the corner, but it's apparently the 'ultimate' day to go tree hunting, according to interior experts.

The specialists have also revealed the best ways to make them last until Christmas and beyond. Chris Harvey of Stelrad explained: "The 27th of November is the beginning of Advent, which is exactly four Sundays before Christmas day, giving people the whole weekend to get into the festive spirit and also be able to enjoy their decorations for exactly one month before Christmas. "Another reason this might be a suitable date is for those people who purchase real Christmas trees.

When taken care of properly, and by watering regularly, most real Christmas trees should last for at least five weeks or more."This means that you can definitely start decorating your home in late November if you fancy it and your tree will be in great condition for Christmas."So, if you plan on heading out this weekend to pick the perfect tree, here are Chris's top three tips on how to make it last until the big day.Although it sounds obvious it's really worth spending the extra time to look out for any brown needles and you should ensure to pick a tree that is in a shady location.
