Teenager dies after falling from bridge and being hit by lorry on busy Scots road

A teenager has died after he fell from a bridge before being struck by a lorry on one of Scotland's most dangerous roads.Emergency services raced to the A9, near the Raigmore Interchange in Inverness, after the alarm was raised at around 7am on Thursday.

Ambulance crews attended but the 18-year old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His heartbroken family have been notified.The male lorry driver was uninjured.

The road and bridge were closed for several hours to allow officers to carry out their investigation.The death is not being treated as suspicious, however, police enquiries are ongoing and cops are appealing for witnesses.Chief Inspector Richard Ross said: "We are continuing to piece together exactly what has happened and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who has not spoken to us, to get in touch.
