The staff at Teen Vogue have sent a letter to publisher Condé Nast over the hiring of new editor-in-chief Alexi McCammond who is set to take on the role from 24 March.
Employees have protested her appointment because a series of historical tweets with anti-Asian sentiments written by Alexi back when she was a student 10 years ago have resurfaced.
The tweets, which were shared publicly by journalist Diana Tsui on Monday, show Alexi, at the time, making racist remarks about the Asian community.
In one of the resurfaced tweets, she wrote: ‘Now Googling how to not wake up with swollen, Asian eyes.’ While in another tweet she said: ‘Give me a 2/10 on my chem problem, cross out all of my work and don’t explain what I did wrong … thanks a lot
