Teen Vogue named Alexi McCammond their editor in chief on March 5, and on March 18, she has decided to resign from the position amid the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes across the United States.
If you don’t know, McCammond ran into controversy when tweets she sent out ten years ago resurfaced and featured racist language directed towards the Asian community. “My past tweets have overshadowed the work I’ve done to highlight the people and issues that I care about — issues that Teen Vogue has worked tirelessly to share with the world — and so Condé Nast and I have decided to part ways,” she tweeted today. “I should not have tweeted what I did and I have taken full responsibility for that.
