Stuart Findlay seals Kilmarnock return as Oxford United defender pens new loan deal

Stuart Findlay has signed for Kilmarnock for a fifth time after the centre-back sealed a return to Rugby Park on loan from Oxford United.The 28-year-old impressed last season on loan from the English side and Derek McInnes has moved to secure a similar loan arrangement for the 2024/25 season.Findlay first joined Killie on loan from Celtic in 2015 before signing on loan again two years later after a spell at Newcastle United - then making the move permanent.

He enjoyed success in Ayrshire as part of the side that finished third in the SPFL Premiership during the 2018/18 campaign and won his sole Scotland cap early the next season.He left for a stint in the States with Philadelphia Union in early 2021 before signing for Oxford 18 months later.

Despite making 44 appearances for United in his debut season, a was made available for a loan with Derek McInnes snapping him up for a third Killie spell.Earlier this year, the popular defender said he'd 'never, ever turn my nose up' at returning with the boss also confirming he was looking to bring him back - with the deal now having been secured.He becomes the second signing of the summer, after former Livingston striker Bruce Anderson put pen to paper on a two-year deal last month.

Meanwhile, it's understood at the club are close to agreeing a new contract with midfielder Liam Polworth.Fleetwood Town were reportedly interested in the former Inverness and Motherwell man but he looks set to be staying at Killie as they prepare for a European campaign following their fourth place finish last term.
