Strictly Come Dancing will return to screens in Autumn and much to fans' delight the first stars taking to the dancefloor for the 2023 series have been unveiledAmanda Abbington, Angela Rippon and Layton Williams were the first celebrities announced on The One Show on Friday, August 4.Sherlock star Amanda, 49, joked that she hadn't kept the news a secret while Angela, 78, is the oldest-ever contestant to compete on the show reports the Mirror.Amanda has starred in various UK dramas including Sherlock, Mr Selfridge, Wolfe, and Desperate Measures.
Amanda said of joining: "I’m thrilled to have been asked to do Strictly."I’m actually really shy and self-conscious so this will be a great opportunity for me to overcome those things!
Plus, I get to learn to dance which I am incredibly excited about. I’m really looking forward to the training too, I’m quite competitive as my family and friends will tell you.
I can’t wait to start!"Amanda added: "It's out, it's out now! I didn't keep it a secret, I told everybody!
