The Sherlock star, who was previously in a relationship and has two kids with fellow actor Martin Freeman, is now dating a former Britain's Got Talent contestant.
And it was revealed on Friday's instalment of The One Show that she would be competing against a host of other celebs to battle it out on the dancefloor in the hopes of winning the Glitterball trophy.
The BBC Press Office tweeted: "The game is on! Award-winning stage and screen actor Amanda Abbington is the first celebrity confirmed for #Strictly Come Dancing 2023 and "can't wait to start".
