With another series of Strictly Come Dancing just around the corner, the contestant announcements have been coming thick and fast, with Amanda Abbington announced as the first star taking to the dance floor this Autumn.

Best known for her dramatic roles in shows which have included Mr Selfridge and BBC’s Sherlock, Amanda is keen to foxtrot and samba her way to victory in the hopes of scooping the highly sought after glitter ball prize.

It isn’t just the trophy motivating her decision to compete however, as the star even cheekily admitted during an appearance on The One Show to announce her participation, that she was hoping to embarrass her teenage children with her performance!

One person who will be sure to cheer her on however, is her fiancé former stuntman Jonathan Goodwin, who famously competed in both Britain’s Got Talent and it’s American counterpart America’s Got Talent as an escapologist.
