Stephen Robinson believes his biggest battle this month will be keeping his star players in Paisley. With the transfer window having now swung open, bidding wars have already begun up and down the country as clubs look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.St Mirren accepted an offer from Forest Green Rovers for key midfielder Ethan Erhahon, whose contract expires in the summer.

Oxford United and Portsmouth have both been linked with a move for the Scotland Under-21 international, who is understood to have rejected Rovers’ initial contract offer. The Buddies are also bracing themselves for offers for Australia international Keanu Baccus after he impressed at the World Cup in Qatar.

Rangers, Gent and AEK Athens have all been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old Socceroo, who is contracted to the Paisley club until June 2024.Robinson admits the Saints board’s resolve is likely to be tested over the coming weeks.

But the St Mirren manager insists he will hold on to his best players for as long as he can as the club look to maintain their top-six spot come the Premiership split in April. When asked about bids being made for Erhahon, Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “The only word that I know to be definite at the moment is that he’s still my player.“He’ll remain my player for as long as I can possibly keep him.
