Erik ten Hag has defended Luke Shaw, insisting he is "so committed" to Manchester United. Shaw has not played for United since he sustained a hamstring injury at Luton on February 18 yet he played three times for England at the European Championship, including in the final against Spain.
The 29-year-old returned to United training after a three-week holiday last week but suffered a calf injury and is out until next month.
Shaw has played in only 275 United games out of a possible 561 since he signed from Southampton at the age of 18 in June 2014.
United do not currently have a specialist senior left back, with Tyrell Malacia, who has not played for United since May 2023 due to a knee problem, not due back until October. "First season when I was here, he played many games so I am very confident we will get him back into shape," Ten Hag said. "He is only 29 years old, he played many games for Manchester United already.
