Scots braced for -5C winter blast with six inches of snow as 'uncertain' weather ahead

Scots could be faced with another spell of snowy and icy weather following days of warnings as new maps show temperatures plunging well below freezing.

Data from WXCharts indicates that areas in the north of Scotland could dip to as low as -5C on Tuesday February 13, with up to 16cm of the white stuff falling - which works out at around 5.9 inches.

Although it is set to be coldest in the Highlands, huge swathes of the central belt and southern Scotland will also experience freezing temperatures early on Tuesday, with conditions set to get chilly again into the evening.

It as the Met Office predicts a period of "uncertain" weather blasting into the UK in the coming days and weeks. Several weather warnings had been put in place by the forecaster earlier this week spanning four days, which warned of icy and snowy conditions hitting Scotland and potentially causing travel chaos.
