Scotland is set to freeze over after being pelted with continuous rain from Storm Babet.Downpours from the storm saw parts of the country endure danger to life floods and now Scots are being warned to be vigilant of ice that may cause some disruption.
The alert is in place for Sunday, October 22 from 9pm until Monday, October 23 at 9am and stretches across the country apart from the west coast.Since Thursday, torrential rain has battered Scotland causing widespread flooding, major structural damage and two Scottish deaths.
While the storm has passed, a massive clean up is underway, with many affected areas still submerged. As such, the extra wet conditions combined with low temperatures have sparked the perfect setting for icy conditions.Forecasters are warning of icy patches that will develop on untreated roads, especially where runoff from saturated ground causes salt wash-off on surfaces.
Anyone heading out either by car or foot should be cautious to avoid accidents or possible injury from falls.Looking at Sunday morning and afternoon, scattered showers will remain across the north and west of Scotland, particularly over Shetland.
