While many make the trip to Iceland in an attempt to see the incredible light phenomenon, which occur as a direct result of solar activity colliding with the Earth's atmosphere, the Aurora Borealis lit up the skies in some parts of the country on Sunday and Monday night.
Head of space weather at the Met Office Mark Gibbs explained that the clarity of the northern lights on Sunday night was the result of a perfect combination of a cloud-free sky, clear air, and a dim moon.
