Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has shared an edited image of Gareth Bale in the soon-to-be League Two club's shirt after co-owner Rob McElhenney reached out to the Welsh legend.

Speculation about Bale coming out of retirement to sign for the North Wales side came after the 33-year-old congratulated Wrexham on their promotion to the Football League.

In a short video, the former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur man said: "Hi Rob [McElhenney], just wanted to congratulate you on your promotion and everything you are doing with Wrexham." McElhenney shared the video to his 1m Twitter followers on Tuesday with the caption: "Hey Gareth Bale let's play golf, where I totally won't spend four hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season." Bale went on to respond to the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star's tweet, posting: "Depends what course..."
