Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce was delighted with a “massive” last-gasp win over leaders Petershill and says draws are like defeats in the West of Scotland First Division.Roan Fitzpatrick’s penalty strike four minutes into stoppage time overturned a 1-0 deficit and was his second goal in 10 minutes as Glens took the three points back to Lanarkshire.That leaves Glens sixth in the table, four points behind Peasy, but with two games in hand that could take them back top.Pryce points out there are eight points separating the top nine teams in the division – most of whom have games in hand over each other – which highlights how tight a scrap it is every week.Though Pryce wouldn’t be drawn on if that’s the kind of win that has you smiling in March, he did concede that they are ‘in the conversation’, as they head for fifth-placed Blantyre Vics on Saturday.He said: “It was a big win, you see how tight the league is.“When we got the equaliser at 1-1, in this league, being as tight as it is, a draw feels like a defeat.“We went for the win, and the three points were crucial when you see the results other teams had in the league.“Other teams at the top sneaked 2-1 wins, same as ourselves, and it’s going to be that way right up to the end.“I was delighted with the performance of the players.

The win came late on, getting the crucial goal, but I felt it was thoroughly deserved.“I felt for large portions of the match we were the better team, especially in the first half, without finding that wee cutting edge at the end.“But the players kept going, kept playing, kept working hard, never let their heads go down, and in the end I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points.“To go away to the league leaders and dominate large
