The Royal Family has made Archie and Lilibet’s new titles official with an update to its website. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle publicly referred to their daughter as Princess Lilibet Diana for the first time this week as they announced their 21 month old daughter had been christened at their home in Montecito, California.
It is understood the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want to use their children's Royal titles in 'formal settings' but not everyday life.
A spokesman for the couple said in a statement on Thursday: "The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became Monarch. This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace." And now Buckingham Palace has updated the royal website to reflect the change - referring to Harry and Meghan’s children as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
Under rules set out by King George V in 1917, the Sussex children had been eligible to use their HRH titles following the death of the Queen in September last year.
