A rowdy passenger on a flight to Tenerife slapped a Ryanair flight attendant - before being punched in the face. The flight from Liverpool to the Canary Island was forced to make an emergency landing in Santiago, in north-west Spain.

Remarkable scenes were captured on camera from the moment the violent exchange erupted on board. Footage appears to show a male passenger, dressed in a black t-shirt, reaching for an overhead locker.

He is surrounded by members of Ryanair cabin crew, the Liverpool Echo reports. As one worker closes the locker, the man appears to slap him across the face.
