Stirling’s rail passengers are facing yet more pain this week as strike action leaves the region’s stations in the dark.The industrial action has been launched by the RMT union as part of an ongoing pay dispute with Network Rail, with the strikes on Thursday (August 18) and Saturday (August 20) the second and third days of action after a previous walkout on July 27.The dispute itself does not involve ScotRail, but will affect services due to Network Rail staff - including signallers and maintenance workers - in ‘safety-critical’ roles being on strike.In the list of services confirmed by Scotrail to be running on Thursday and Saturday, there are no trains calling at any of the trio of Stirling stations - Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan.It’s the latest moment in a summer of disruption across the network, with a long-running dispute with the ASLEF union leading to the introduction of a ‘temporary timetable’ which saw a major reduction in the number of trains serving Stirling.The disruption for local passengers will also feed into the days surrounding the strike action, with services on Friday (August 19) and Sunday (August 21) affected due to the closing and reopening of signal boxes across the country.A number of trains on the Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa service - which serves Stirling station - are among those impacted.Customers are being urged to check the Scotrail app or visit the operator’s website for the latest information on their service before travelling.David Simpson, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said: “It is very unfortunate to see such widespread disruption across the whole of the Great Britain rail network and we know this will be frustrating for ScotRail customers.“Regrettably, this strike
