Just as the newest winners were announced - friends Alfie Watts and Owen Wood - Race Across The World is facing claims of the show being a 'fix'.The hit BBC show has entertained viewers since it emerged on air in 2019 with its gruelling tasks and time pressures, but it appears lots happens behind the scenes that fans don't know about.
According to The Sun, series four winner Alfie, 20, lifted the lid on a few secrets in a Facebook group themed around the show.
It emerged contestants can even stay in secret hotels for two days at each checkpoint. The TV star confirmed they had to stay in the hotel for "safety reasons." He said: "It does change depending on finishing times to make sure nobody leaves at an utterly ridiculous time - mainly for safety." Alfie isn't the only contestant to spill the inner workings on the show, as series two contestant Jen also confessed the teams have crew members with them all of the time.
Jen, who competed in series two alongside husband Rob, explained although there "isn't much viewers don't get to see," the two producers who travel with the teams are not shown on screen.
