Pupils reinforce school's green credentials as eco flag is delivered for the eighth time

Pupils and staff at Newarthill Primary have enhanced the school’s green credentials with its eighth eco-flag award.A committee was set up and worked hard on an action plan to reduce energy and water use, and litter in the school community.An eco-wall was also created where evidence of their tasks being implemented and completed was recorded.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

We focused on three topics - water, litter and energy – and made an action plan."For the energy topic we worked with the local community.

The children made little bags with candles in them and gave them out to use during Earth Hour, when lights were switched off to save energy.“We also encouraged the children to use a water trough and turn off taps, and put posters up around the school.
